Cerebral Palsy Australia welcomes the Government’s announcement that they support the vision of a National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and will begin laying the foundations for its introduction.
The announcement is a milestone in the long journey to introducing the NDIS. Today’s announcements are a step in the right direction of revolutionising the way people with cerebral palsy and similar disabilities, their families and carers, are supported in Australia.
Cerebral Palsy Australia welcomes the Productivity Commissions recommendation that NDIS should fund all people who live with cerebral palsy who meet the NDIS eligibility criteria.
“The NDIS will act as a new support system for people with a disability, their families and carers. It will transform the way services are funded and delivered, ensuring people are better supported and enabling them to have greater control and choice” said Diana Heggie, Cerebral Palsy Australia President.
